Professional Cell Culture Course

Human cell culture is a widely used laboratory technique that enables cells - the building blocks of life - to be cultured, studied and manipulated under controlled conditions outside of the body. Human cell culture is practiced in almost every biomedical laboratory throughout the world. For this reason, it is a requsite skills that aspiring scientists should learn before seeking preofessional employment in the biomedical sciences industry.

 

Because higher institutions do not teach human cell culture to the standard required by employers, we have developed a program specifically designed to prepare college students for working in a professional cell culture laboratory. Our 3-day course is taught in modern cell culture facilities by industry scientists with more than 13 years of cell culture experience. It provides comprehensive training in the derivation, handling, cryopreservation, characterization, manipulation and long-term culture of commonly used human cell types.  Participating students receive a technical training certificate in validated cell culture techniques and work-based skills that translate to any cell culture laboratory. They also learn advanced methods for establishing and managing contamination free cell culture facilities.

Why Professional Cell Culture Training is Important and Essential for all Biomedical Scientists

Human cells are complex to grow and must be handled aseptically with the utmost care, under rigorously controlled conditions in specialized cell culture laboratories. Very few colleges house the specialized training facilities that are needed to provide professional cell culture training during undergraduate or graduate degree programs. Those that do, typically lack the resources to comprehensively train every student in the large classes they are required teach.  Most students consequently leave college with little to no cell culture experience and are forced to learn or perfect these skills after beginning professional lab work.
